Fermented Food is the New Sexy!

It’s not just here. It’s everywhere!

If you read the news/follow trends, you may well have noticed that there are national newspapers and magazines talking about fermented food and drink all the time now.  Pharmaceuticals are looking to isolate specific bacteria to create the most powerful probiotics.

It’s EVERYWHERE.

Today I’d like to share some reader quotes/stories/feedback on the recipes I’ve been sharing. Mostly fermented, but also healthy food suggestions and some basics, such as chickpea flatbread recipes, to slavver with fermented foods or enjoy with a salad and fermented dressing. You get my drift. Whatever suits you!

It’s so exciting to see people spread the word around the globe and start making this amazing food!

I hope the photos and stories below inspire you to grab some veg, milk and a jar and try fermenting yourself. It’s SO brilliant and I promise you, once you start, you won’t be able to give it up. It’s really addictive!

I sent the gift to show how great fermented foods are at healing Robyn. I hope this hasn’t come across as a ‘look at my kindness’ post! I share food all the time. it’s the way my mum and dad have always been, so I grew up in that groove. 🙂 … Very much appreciate your kind words though. x

Ok Ok you’ve convinced me! I’m gonna try one of your recipes! What would you say is the easiest or best one for a beginner?

Yayyyyyyy! Hmmm. Well, I’d go for the pink sauerkraut or the coconut kefir to begin with April. If you do two, you have one milk and one veg. A perfect combo for your daily fermented intake to begin with. (You don’t take them together tho! 😉

To make it super easy, use a can or carton of organic coconut milk to start with. Making your own milk will take a little longer and you need a high speed blender.

All you’ll need is some culture starter powder.

Just tap those search words into Google and make sure you get a local supplier that sells one without dairy in it (unless that doesn’t bother you.)

I didn’t know that any contained dairy until a reader wrote to me and said hers was a great deal, then realised it had dairy. So watch out for that when you’re buying, if you want to avoid it.

Once your coconut kefir has fermented, you can sweeten it with a natural sweetener or throw some fruit it and make it part of a smoothie. 🙂 .. Start small and use a tablespoon. Build as you feel comfortable. I was having a cup of it within 2 days. You’ll know how you feel.

    Keep me posted!
